I saw on the VM Reddit page stating they will NOT be bringing gig 2 to RoFG and DOCSIS 3.1, does anyone have any idea on why not? Since both support 2gig, and both Symmetrical as well (however I understand this would be expensive to do so on the DOCSIS 3.1 version) Also, if this is the case and gig2 doesn't come to RoFG and DOCSIS 3.1, what's the point in the 2.5gbps port on the Hub 5? Feel as if VM should have waited before activating any 2gig speeds until they could at least release it over their entire network tbh, but I'm not into marketing, not advertising ect guess it's just to put their name next to "UKs biggest and fastest broadband company!" Re: Virgin Media switches on residential 2Gbps broadband service Anyone got an idea when GIG2 will come to DOCSIS 3.1 areas? Re: Virgin Media switches on residential 2Gbps broadband service Anyone got an idea when GIG2 will come to DOCSIS 3.1 areas? The Hub 5 has a 2.5 Gbps port, so VM intend on getting at least 2 gig to DOCSIS areas, since they're offering it to XGS areas, when do you think it'll be available for the rest (majority) of us? Re: Virgin Media switches on residential 2Gbps broadband service I understand that, however they are able to - at the very least - boost (perhaps double?) the upload speeds for those on DOCSIS 3.1. Given the plans for their XGS network are not set to be finished till late 2027, it'd make the most sense to at least double the upload speeds for those stuck on the DOCSIS 3.1. As they transfer people from the old DOCSIS 3.1 to XGS it'd be easier to deliver this to those stuck on DOCSIS. Examples: GIG2: 2,200 Mbps Download | 440 Mbps Upload GIG1 1,100 Mbps Download | 220 Mbps Upload And so on... Re: Virgin Media switches on residential 2Gbps broadband service Anyone got an idea for the DOCSOS 3.1? Also, that price is absolutely absurd considering Community Fibre offer 3gig symmetrical at £45 p/m, BeFibre offer 1gig symmetrical at £16 p/m then £29 p/m after 6 months Hope the price is fixed, as 1gig on virgins own network is £40-45 p/m, would have accepted at most £55 p/m tbh, with symmetrical speeds on XGS and AT LEAST a optional Upload Boost (400mbps) on DOCSIS 3.1 Re: Hub 5: Our first ever WiFi 6 broadband router Is that HUB speed or your device personal speed? What are the 2 different speeds you're getting? Re: Hub 5: Our first ever WiFi 6 broadband router A VM Engineer who helped me with my Hub 5, he's my usual engineer if anything problematic occurs with my equipment. Everytime he's here he always has to argue with over-the-phone staff, they're always rude to him as well. Anyways, one time he came round to help me with an issue with my Hub 5 and had to go through their standard security as if he was a customer and spoke to regular customer support? He had to fight for about 20 mins to get a new, unbroken, Hub 5 sent out to me. If they're arguing with their own engineers, I guess they must really have wanted to slow the roll out of the Hub 5, weither it's stock, money, lack of customers returning equipment... I'll never know. But don't worry, even Virgin Media Engineers are struggling to get Hub 5s from Virgin Media. Unless you're trying to get a Hub 5X which I know are in short supply. Re: Hub 5: Our first ever WiFi 6 broadband router One thing I noticed a while back, on SamKnows RealSpeed they changed the Package reading from 1000x50 to 1000x100 but it's now back to 1000x50 again, not sure if VM have actually gone back on the new Upload speeds, would be funny. I personally still have 100 up but that's because I have not reset my hub in a while, now I'm scared to lol Re: Hub 5: Our first ever WiFi 6 broadband router I would 100% recommend doing Sam Knows Real Speed over any other speed test Re: Hub 5: Our first ever WiFi 6 broadband router The reset button on the hub 5 is actually at the bottom of the hub, it took me a while to find it as well 😂
