Re: Upload speed not reaching 104 & packet loss on BQM For a while after this I kept seeing upload speed degredation after some days of the router being online. It would drop from around 104 to 90 then to 80 and below, and would only be fixed after a restart. This also came with a noticeable spike in noise on the BQM, which would also immediately settle after a restart. I noticed over the last couple of weeks that this stopped happening and then today I noticed I finally have a DOCSIS 3.1 upload channel....weird. I guess VM have done some work externally that has finally given me a 3.1 upstream channel. However I still see consistent T3 timeouts on upload, there is always at least one T3 timeout on this page: Connection seems fine though so I guess I just ignore these timeouts? BQM Re: BQM Check for Gig1 please Hey, you were totally correct. I got an engineer to visit and now things are looking much better, way less jitter and noise on the line, BQM is much much quieter. Power levels are in spec now, but still no 3.1 channel. Posted router stats and summary here if you're interested (The 2 T3 timeouts seem to be as the engineer was still working on the connection, I haven't see any more since) Just out of pure curiosity, what does it mean to be on an inverted node? I thought all areas had the 3.1 upgrade now? I am 99% sure I am just on a regular HFC connection, the engineer said the same and I see no ONU on the outside and there is definitely not one inside of the flat. A few suspected I might be on an RFoG connection due to the lack of the 3.1 upstream. Re: Upload speed not reaching 104 & packet loss on BQM Now getting around 100Mb on the upload which is fine, but yeah no 3.1 upstream which the engineer admitted is not normal...but said that it should show up after the connection has settled (not sure it will though) Re: Upload speed not reaching 104 & packet loss on BQM So...engineer came today and said that at the cabinet I was connected to a very old line that was feeding in to multiple splitters in to the flats where I live. So he has moved me on to a new spare slot in the cabinet and directly connected me without the splitters and then fitted an attenuator. He also directly connected the port I am using to the cable outside and moved the isolator in to the socket that is actively being used, so I now have a direct connection from outside in to the socket I use for the modem. This seems to have solved the noise issue on the downstream and the power levels (downstream power seems to be just in spec) However, I still have no 3.1 upstream channel, and am still seeing T3 timeouts on the upload. Could somebody please give these stats a once over? I will see how it fares in terms of any packet loss or drop outs over time, but for now the speeds are fine and the latency is as expected. The engineer said that after some time, the 3.1 channel should appear but I am not so sure that will be the case. As the guy above me has mentioned, there are timeouts, high power levels on the upstream and a couple of the downstream channels have an SNR issue. How do I get an engineer to visit? I am already fighting Virgin Media for money back that should never have been charged and all of this is just so much harder than it has been for the last 3 years with Openreach providers where I had 0 issues, 0 dropouts, 1 engineer visit in 3 years to install the service and that's it. So frustrating.
