True - but Openreach wholesale prices have only tended to go one way - down. Re: IPv6 support on Virgin media As long as you stay a customer on a package with their price promise yes, they'll never increase the price, and if it goes down in price you get locked in at that new lower price. If you go to their website and click on "Product Terms and Conditions" the price promise is linked from there. Re: IPv6 support on Virgin media Same - my Zen FTTP (500 down 75 up) is being installed in a few days, it'll be less than I'm paying VM for Vivid 350 from March AND they guarantee not to raise prices either during your minimum term, or for as long as you keep the contract live. I'm just thankful I've got a plethora of options (FTTC, FTTP and Cable) where I live. Re: IPv6 support on Virgin media BT and Sky are two of the majors who both support it - both using proper full-fat Dual-Stack as well. Re: IPv6 support on Virgin media To be fair, DS-Lite would be the right decision to go with in another 5-10 years when the majority of the internet is IPV6 and IPV4 is just for a few legacy sites. But not now ... Re: IPv6 support on Virgin media Some poeple (like me) only have an OpenVPN server running on their connection - we're not actually hosting, just providing a way to tunnel back into our home network for various reasons. If I'm on an IPV4 only connection, there's no way to connect - unless I setup an ipv6 tunnel from the likes of HE.net Re: IPv6 support on Virgin media ravenstar68 wrote: Anonymous wrote: Yes DS-Lite will kill all local IPv4 hosting. There are ways of still hosting on IPv4 even on a DS-Lite setting. Mind sharing them? I have a VPN server running on my router so that I can tunnel into my network when travelling, and not everywhere has ipv6 yet (for example, Virgin Media!) Re: IPv6 support on Virgin media Yep, it's had issues on the equivalent of the SH2. Works fine on the SH6 they hand out now, and will upgrade you to on request. Re: IPv6 support on Virgin media Yep - google error WS-37397-9 to see what can happen with CGNAT if a service hands out an IP ban. Re: IPv6 support on Virgin media Why not? VM Ireland use it in their deployment IIRC.
