Based on other forum posts, I'm somewhat wary of even trying the upgrade now, but as I feel entitled to access the TV channels I'm paying for I would quite like someone to (a) inform me of how to access the upgrade and (b) reassure me that I can expect it to work. (NB - I did follow the QR code as advised on the error message which just initiated a ridiculous cycle with a chatbot that was not able to offer any info or resolution).
