Will wait a little while longer till the grain contract is closer to completion and phone again as the plan is to have them remove their cable (they said they would when i signed up and have it in writing) and for virgin to use the holes left behind to feed theirs in. Thanks for the help. Re: Trespass onto my property All i can say is they eventually removed the inside and outside box's from my parents last house because the buyer didn't want virgin and asked for the equipment to be removed as part of the sale, virgin for their part tried every trick in the book to get them to leave it in place but eventually agreed and charged her £150 (this was about 11 years ago) As for the ownership of the cables things may have changed as i will admit that i have been out the loop for a while and can only report back on what she was told told when dad threatened to just rip it out himself. As for the code powers i could have misunderstood in which case i apologise... https://www.ofcom.org.uk/phones-and-broadband/telecoms-infrastructure/code-powers-virgin-media-national-networks-limited/?language=en Re: Trespass onto my property I would urge caution! Virgin have "code" powers granted by ofcom same as openreach does which allows for access to your property to gain access to any of their infrastructure on your property (up to the box on the outside wall for virgin) for the purpose of repair/upgrade/maintenance. The gas, water and electricity company's also have this type of legal access (up to your meter). you can ask virgin to remove all trace of their equipment from your property (will cost you), removing the stuff yourself and/or damaging the equipment is classed as criminal damage. However like others have said they have made a pigs ear of it and in my view they should send someone to fix their mess You could always contact ofcom, they should take matters like this seriously and have the power to fine virgin. Virgin now available in my postcode Hello, im hoping someone will be able to help with a install question, a few years ago virgin expanded their footprint in carlisle but the area we live was left out (something to do with very poor work by their contractors across multiple areas leading to fines and repair orders being issued by the council). Last year grain connect installed FTTP along our street CA1 3NZ/CA1 3LW (took 2 weeks of digging and laying conduits) and we signed up, skip forward to last week and we have been receiving flyers through the door saying virgin is now available to us, im looking into it as we only have 3 months or so left on our contract and sky are being a pain. My question is how? no one else has dug up our street, openreach's equipment is all pole based (also just completed their FTTP upgrades in the area 3 months ago), is virgin now using grains ducting or are they now using openreach's network? The local O2 shop just gave me the usual "we have our own network and don't share" speak and didn't seem to understand i was asking how they can supply me when they haven't dug the street up like they did the rest of the city.
