Basically clutching at straws to see if anything works. I have several ntlworld & virginmedia email accounts. What I'm doing now is: 1. Logging in to webmail on Chrome via android phone. My most regular way for collecting mail on the go. 2. Logging in to Outlook on my pc. Been using this for 28 years to collect mail and store in various folders. 3. Adding ntl & virgin email details into gmail and logging in from an android phone to send & receive. 4. New set up on webmail using Chrome to forward all ntl & virgin mail to a brand new gmail account on my android phone. I have varying degrees of success. Still no historical emails which were sitting nicely in my computer's Outlook mailboxes. A send & receive on 18th June and the whole lot vanished. Odd as I thought when they were on my pc they were 'safe'. My last mail backup was about 3 years ago and only when I got a new pc. So, quite frankly, I don't know whether I'm coming or going. I desperately need the historical mails and a normal, reliable email service. Re: Loss of Email - F010762348 Thanks so much for the reply. Was getting kind of desperate here but will just hold on and keep fingers crossed! Re: Loss of Email - F010762348 Advice needed please. I can still only get my main email account (ntlworld) to send and receive using webmail on my Samsung phone. Historical mails still missing of course. Other addresses (ntlworld & virgin) I still have no access to since Friday night maintenance. I'm now going to set up Outlook on my phone to try and access my mail accounts that way. It's asking me whether to use IMAP or POP3. Which one? Re: Loss of Email - F010762348 Compensation is not going to bring lost emails back. At this point all I care about is my historical mail which has vanished. Re: Loss of Email - F010762348 Oh, and historical mails still not available on the one email account that is working after maintenance. Re: Loss of Email - F010762348 Following your overnight 'maintenance' only one of my email accounts is now accessable! Using webmail on my phone. What's happened to the rest of them which are now empty? Re: Loss of Email - F010762348 You'll notice that was dated the 23rd and no update since. I'm assuming you haven't lost access to your historical emails for 11 days. Re: Loss of Email - F010762348 Their silence speaks volumes! Re: Loss of Email - F010762348 Day 9 for me of no access to old emails. Friday the 23rd was your last 'update' which basically told us there was no update. Now Monday 26th and no further statements from Virgin. Customers are having to chase YOU up for information. That's not acceptable. Questions: What actually happened? What do you mean by "a small proportion" of customers affected? Exactly how many? Have you called in any external big guns to assist? Nine days is way too long to fix a mail server issue. Can you confirm 100% that the missing emails are retrievable? Virgin, don't bother replying unless you are prepared to answer these questions. Re: Loss of Email - F010762348 I'm on day 9 with no access to emails received before 20th June. No official statement from Virgin Media to explain what happened. If, as they claim, only a "small proportion" of customers are affected then why is it taking so long to fix? Something is very wrong and Virgin are not telling us.
