I have had 500 Mb Broadband for 18 months. During that time I have sampled the download speed at random intervals a total of 233 times. The average download speed over 18 months is 198 (Megabits per second). Less than 40% of the advertised speed. The average upload speed is 43. Same router throughout. Modern laptops both PC and Apple used. All measurements taken about 4 metres from the router, unobstructed line of sight, with WiFi at around -75 dB or better. Why on earth should anyone buy 500 Mb from Virgin when it only delivers 200? Downgrading On the VM website, in more than one place, it says both upgrade and downgrade options are available online. However, when you follow the links, only upgrades are available, and there does not seem any way to edit your existing package, Like others, I might stay with VM if I could downgrade a bit, but as they do not appear to make that available online, despite stating that they do, it's impossible. I don't want to talk to a salesman. I want to ditch some things and get the best value on what remains. Why can I not do that on the site via the pages that say I can?
