I posted in the mega thread a number of times. Now apparently I can get any ISP to offer me fibre at speeds up to 1600Mbps so when my current contract ends, I have options. I'm currently signed up until august so there's some time to do some homework... :) it's a shame as I've not had any major problems with virgin apart from being so backwards that they don't support a modern IP stack. as I use a homelab, ipv6 would be handy.. Re: IPv6 support on Virgin Media I see that according to google's ipv6 tracker (https://www.google.com/intl/en/ipv6/statistics.html#tab=per-country-ipv6-adoption) ipv6 adoption has now moved over 50% in the states and is currently nearly 49% here in the UK. It had become a bit of legend; at least it's still there, even if it's locked. As I noted back in 2023, CityFibre are coming to my area and they're finally pulling fibre on my street, so I should be free of Vermin Media in the next few months 😀 I mean, we can make a new 10 year thread... keep reminding them of their ongoing failure to deliver.. if anyone cares... Unfortunately, virgin is the only game in town for fast broadband here. Openreach have just installed FTTP in the next village over, but not here. IPv6 support on Virgin Media What happened to Virgin Media's longest running thread? I can see if but I can't seem to post to it anymore? have they finally got sick of pretending that the topic is important to them? Re: IPv6 support on Virgin Media why do you think? docsis supports ipv6 afaik, it's just that virgin don't think it's important/care. Chris, if you had read the link you would know that all it does is give a synopsis of the situation, it resolves nothing. the resolution can only come from Virgin Media... Re: IPv6 support on Virgin media IllLustration wrote: Well, to be completely fair, it's only 28 pages if you use the maximum page size ... Until they deploy and assuming you can't go elsewhere without going back to the dark ages of speed, your best option really is to think of VM as mere connectivity, and tunnel IPv6 traffic over IPv4. If you tunnel all your traffic, you can get back a static IPv4 address as well, and keep mass surveillance at bay to boot. who does one tunnel to? are there choices? can I have the tunnel configured (easily) through my UDM? Re: IPv6 support on Virgin media I saw this link earlier: https://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php/2021/11/update-on-ipv6-plans-for-virgin-media-talktalk-plusnet-and-vodafone.html notable comment: A VMO2 Spokesperson told ISPreview this week: “We are continuing to plan our IPV6 deployment having tested several solutions and intend to introduce IPV6 for our customers in future.” so, bugger all actual progress then... as expected... Re: IPv6 support on Virgin media logged into my ubiquiti router, ETH4 holds the public IP address so I assume that's the right interface, there's no sub interfaces defined. That tcpdump command (pointed at eth4 shows no traffic sadly... Re: IPv6 support on Virgin media so I've got my virgin router in modem more and I'm using a ubiquiti UDM as my internet facing router, can I access ipv6, even in experimental mode?
