ContributionsMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Virgin Media outgoing SMTP mail server error According to one of the Forum staff, if you don't have a Virgin Media email address (which incidentally they stopped issuing in 2022) then you cannot generate a password to use with one of the VM SMTP servers (eg smtp.virginmedia.com). Without the password, you cannot authenticate with the server & you are stuffed. Time for everyone to start looking for alternative mail relays. Quite remarkable really. Someone (Zach_R) did get in touch but they were not able to help. This is my interpretation of what he said. You can only send emails now if you still have a VM email address. Apparently they stopped issuing new VM email addresses in 2022 If (like me) you don't still have a VM email address then you cannot create a password (this is why the option is not showing up for me). So effectively they do not support sending mail with say, Outlook or any other mail client that needs an SMTP relay for any of their new customers or existing customers that do not have a VM email address If that is correct then it really sucks Re: Re: Can't send emails as of today. I had already looked there - the only password I can change is the MyVirginMedia sign-in password. My understanding is that is different to the password used for things like SMTP authentication. Unless you are saying that it is the same password as I use to sign into MyVirginMedia. Doesn't help if you can't access the password app (like me) Where is the mail password app? According to the Help it should be " Sign in to My Virgin Media a. Go to Account settings, then Account details b. Tap Manage next to Manage your Virgin Media Mail app password under Virgin Media Mail c. Then, under Virgin Media Mail app password tap Generate new App password and follow the instructions " I don't have the Virgin Media Mail option in my Account settings
