My Virgin Media Box has rebooted by itself and is now stuck in a reboot loop and there's a weird noise coming from the HDD.
It will show the welcome screen like normal then to a black screen then boot back to the welcome screen, there's also a strange sound coming from the HDD. Sometimes it will show a down arrow with a VM box icon like its updating but it will just reboot back again and start the cycle again. It's been doing this for the past 3 hours so far.
This is the noise coming from the Box (I'm assuming its the HDD)
I tried phoning support but was told something about them sending a signal down and waiting 24 hours.
But to me the HDD sounds knackered 😐

I agree with you. Assuming this was explained to the faults agent, then either they've not understood or they're following a (bad) script very badly. Either way - forget waiting for the "signal" and callback, hopefully you'll get another agent who achieves the correct outcome.
You want, at the very least, a fault visit from a tech who'll then swap the box out. Very occasionally replacement V6 are sent out for self-install, but tech visits normally allow for faulty kit to be returned quickly for potential refurb. That, and Mr Customer doesn't need to do any lifting themselves.

Thanks. Yea, I came off the Call thinking I'll have to wait 24 hrs for nothing knowing that the box was likely dead lol
I did the self install when I first got the Box so I don't mind going that route again tbh
I've had the box for ages and I'm always recording and watching recordings so it would make sense that the HDD is on its last legs, now that I think back there were signs.. Recordings not deleting an what not.

Ok, a bit of movement I phoned back again today and specifically told them I wanted a engineer out and after a bit of back and forth they said they would send one out, but earliest slot is Tuesday 😕
At least they are coming, guess I'll read a book or something 😛
