V6 Box Reboot loop and animated download arrow ?

Amarok
Tuning in

HI

I followed the option to delete all recordings from the menu, on reboot it reported installing program please wait and the box has been in a boot loop ever since. Powered off, disconnected, re-connected, reset internet, all still in a loop from Welcome, to an animated download arrow and a message telling me it may take several hours.

3 hours later Still not functioning.. all help appreciated.

Thanks

Hi @Amarok

Try the following, it's worled for some forum members.

Turn off the V6 at switch;  then on the V6 box  hold down both the power button and the +button at the same time.

Then turn on the V6 again whilst keeping hold of those buttons for a furhter 30 seconds.

The box should reboot, the power button will turn blue, and it should  reset and boot up normally

Out of curiosity, what was your reason for using this reset option?

Regardless, it's done now - take a read of the sticky at the top of this forum, here

You can either call into TV Faults on 150/0345 4541111 to report your broken box, or wait on here (might be a day or so) for VM staff to respond.

You're likely to need a tech visit and potentially a replacement V6.

Well there are two options clear down the entire V6 box or delete All recordings and planned recordings. I had 100+ recordings and 100+ planned recordings so selected the option I needed. BUT low and behold this looks to have killed the Box

Make sense ?

Kind regards

Hi Dave

I tried what you posted and it didn't work for me (I think). However, it gave me the idea to try a 3-finger salute and press all the buttons on the front of the box, not just the + and power.

Switch off at the back.

Press all the buttons on front of box (+ - and power)

Switch on and keep the buttons pressed

You will get the animated down arrow and it will seem to do an update. When it restarts the first time you will get an error saying it can't acquire the channels. Press OK and let it restart again.

Everything back as normal. I hope it works for someone.

Thanks for your help Dave.

Hi @Mac152

Thanks for updating the thread.

I'm glad you managed a workaround with a 3 fingered salute. It's good to think outside the box.

I'm sure that will very useful for other posters too.

This fixed it, you have been more helpful to me in the last 5 minutes than Virgin Media as a whole over the last 5 years.

This vile piece of radioactive garbage of a TV box is up and crawling again.

On our wavelength

Hi,

Just wanted to add my thanks - this worked for me so if anybody finds themselves here suffering this issue, give this solution a try.

To add some detail:

Turn the box off at the switch on the back of the box. Hold down the power button and + button on the front of the box, then switch the box back on.

Hold down and count to 30. Leave go off the buttons at the front of the box.

My box then restarted another couple of times and the power button didn't turn blue until the third reboot (I didn't touch anything during this time). Then I was asked to connect to the internet, and after a quick download and reprogramming my remote control, it now works great.

Thank you!

Hey @benfrew Thanks for the update!

I'm glad that everything has been sored out. 😇
Let us know if you need anything else and we appreciate the feedback which will assist any other VM user should they have the same issue.

Take care and enjoy your week. 🙏🏼
