Sky Arts Channel

Never even knew this had been taken away TBH.

I had several recordings saved on this channel. Yesterday, when I went to view one, I was told that the channel was not available. That is how I found out.
However the recordings were on my box, they were recorded WHEN the channel was available, so why can I not be allowed to view them? 🤔

Plus Sky Arts is on Freeview for crying out loud.😀

Hi @WelshGasman

It sounds like the recorded programs were made on Sky Arts SD.  This standard SD version of the channel was removed from VM boxes on 5th June 2024 and replaced by Sky Arts HD so all customers would then have free access to the HD version.

The usual practice when a channel ceases broadcasting or is switched from SD to HD is for the recordings to remain available for around 3 to  6 months after which they are no longer playable.

(Recordings are for short term time shifted purposes only and not for long term archiving/retention.)

It's possible that the actual programs you recorded are still available via catchup - there are 271 programs showing under TV Shows > Sky Arts on my 360 box.

Thanks for the reply.
No doubt they will come around again and I can record them then.

I will also look at the catchup options.

If you're using a V6, you can set a Wishlist which can be more flexible than a series-link - and very handy in scenarios such as this.
