Can I connect my Hi Fi amp onto the 3.5mm socket on the V6 box,

Using the AV out RCA sockets on my TV is giving me problems

Ideally you should use HDMI to your TV, and the optical output to an AV amp - that's what I've done for many years.

What are the problems that you're having? You've not said.

I have a Sony TV connected via RCA Audio out to a Yamaha amp,
the sound is good and no lip sync issues.

I do have lip sync problems using the RCA /Phono sockets but what concerns me is that most new TV,s dont have RCA or headphone sockets so how would I connect a HI Fi Amp if I change my TV

I have seen a live news broadcast issue where there was clear lipsync, but that would be heard on the TV's internal speakers and be identical on the RCA audio outputs. Using better audio + bigger speakers does tend to make lipsync more obvious. TVs and their sources often have way to adjust the timing of the audio to dial out the  lipsync.

New TVs tend to have digital optical audio out, I would connect that to the Optical DAC input on my Yamaha A-S501 and set the TV to output PCM / stereo.

Failing that external DACs are available from very little money to very expensive,
as TV audio is all compressed a decent device that works reliably may all that is needed.

I have been able to connect a audio DAC I have to Optical output of the V6 box but I think the picture was lagging. This was using headphones plugged into the DAC.

At least I know that my DAC works connected to the V6 box after changing the audio settings.

I will wait until I get a new TV before trying to set it up

Thanks
