Tennis - US Open

IanS
On our wavelength

Hi

Why are virgin customers lumbered with such poor coverage of tennis since Sky bought it up?

At best for the US Open we have two channels and the + channel is not always showing tennis. Over the first two days these channels have been clogged up for a huge length of time with just two matches involving british players. Anyone who didn't want to watch these two games had virtually no options.

Why can't we have either red button options of other courts, or better still other channels covering different courts? Several extra channels were opened up for the Olympics so why couldn't similar be done for Grand Slam tennis?

Regards

Ian

Sky's decision, not VM's. The Olympics additional channels were provided (at great expense) by Eurosport leasing additional broadcast circuits & satellite capacity. As these streams were Europe wide & attracted a large international  audience they were justified.

Sky's additional tennis coverage requires an internet driven app to access Sky Sports+ via the Red Button & is available on VMs Horizon V360 & Stream boxes. This app will not work on TiVO driven boxes, meaning that Sky has to develop another app. While staff have hinted that an HD multiscreen solution is in progress for TiVO, there is no timescale for release.

As I post this there are 13 live matches available on the 360's red button. I think they are streamed in HD.

The TiVo box is on its way out, so you need to upgrade.
