I had problems about 3 weeks ago with my partners email account which is an account 2 on my main account, to change the password you have to give a different non virgin email address so they can send you a confirmation email to proceed, after doing this the secondary account log in then comes up with the non virgin email to log in to the 2nd virgin email account, How can I change this back to the 2nd email account to have it logged in as the virgin email address? sorry a bit strange

@octapus  You can't change it back.  Each VM email account now needs a third party email address as the username to log into the My Virgin Media account and VM webmail.

The username to access the email address via an email client or app remains as the full VM email address.

If you are using VM webmail then you sign in with the third party email username and VM account password.

If you are using an email client or app such as Thunderbird the username is the full VM email address and the generated app password.

VM have recently changed the log in requirements for accessing VM Mail via third party apps.

If you change the password for the account in My Virgin Media > Account settings > Account details you will not be able to use the new password to access the account via an email client. Email client access now requires an app specific password which can be generated in the MyVM > Account Settings > Account details > Mailbox App password management
