Is it a thin cable with a green plug on the end? If so that is likely a fibre cable. A picture would help if you still need support.
However, if it is a fibre, when Virgin carry out installations they use pre terminated fibre to aid the installation process and reduce the risk of errors. The reason for this is fibres are very sensitive to any contaminants on the cable such as dust, oils, or even an unclean cut: all of which can impact light levels which will reduce performance and connection stability.
