Pre-terminated coax and list of VOIB compatible home phones?

Hi,

I've read people asking for short pre-terminated coax cables as I've returned our hub 5 to near front door with virgin comes into our bungalow in readiness for copper switch off and going digital for home phone. Also is there any list anywhere yet of compatible home phones we can plug into hub 5?

Cheers in advance.

All current home phones should be ok to be connected to the VM hub. Contrary to what many people are saying, it is NOT VoIP. It is just another way of connecting a standard POTS phone back to the ‘exchange’. As to longer coax cables VM customer services can supply.

VM are supposed to inform you of the change over date.

If the telephone wall sockets stop working, try connecting to the Hub Tel 1 socket.

You can try calling CS for a cable, but depending who answers they may not have a clue what you are talking about. Otherwise try to attract the attention of a VM person on here.

Hi there @jonp_1331

Thank you so much for your post and welcome to the community forums, it's great to have you here.

I am sorry to hear you are still in need of a new cable, can I just confirm what length the coax cable you are after is?

Thanks all. My ringing CS was for the cable sorry. We are checking Dads inbox for the email when to plug into Hub 5 for the phone sorry.

Hi Ashleigh, Hub 5 is now back next to the white incoming wall box so the shortest available will be fine please? Just wanted to make sure the terminations are as good as possible and we have a 50cm hand terminated cable in use now. The Hub 5 was moved to the living room on a long coax up and over as were are bungalow but now put Hub back so can CAT8 to my firewall in my room at rear of bungalow.

It is officially Dad's account but he has put on record I have authority to speak to VM for us. He is 80 next year.

Thanks in advance.

Should you intend to connect the VM Hub Tel 1 port to the BT style of wall sockets,
the 2 wire telephone exchange line will first need to be disconnected from the master socket.

"CAT8 to my firewall in my room at rear of bungalow." Cat8 is a waste of money, all you need at most is Cat6 and even Cat5e is adequate for most people. Cat6 is ok up to 70m at 10Gb, which is very unlikely to be used by VM in the near future, even with fibre.
