Tuning in

Since the construction Team have installed a grey unit by the side of my house on open land. A puddle is now forming around it and the older BT boxes.

Its obviously not a serious leak but still probably needs investigating

Just waiting for something to go pop

No they cant see a leak , they now believe that the trench that was dug to the box has caused the ground water to build up , its over the height of damp course on my house

That doesn't make any sense, ground water doesn't tend to just sit around waiting for someone to dig a trench to let it out.

If water can pool above the DPC level of your house then you have a drainage problem.

all i know is it happened the same time as the box was installed and is getting worse. im not an engineer

You can see your DPC in that photo and the water is nowhere near it. If the water is still there when it hasn't rained for a few days then call the water company back out to have another look.

It's also possible that there is a leak somewhere else and it's getting into the ducts and coming out where that box is because it's at a low spot.

If it's a micro trench it will be a slot of up to 60mm wide cut into the ground and reinstated once the fibre duct is installed. It's hard to see how this can cause a build up of water.

Sorry to hear this Tomgom999, just to confirm the water firm have been out and checked this and they can't see any leaks?

I understand it has been raining a lot over the past couple of weeks, how is the box now still wet like this?

New around here?

A few engineers for virgin media came out yesterday and have categorically said that it is nothing to do with them.

It very much looks like a leak from someone else's house.

Thank you for replying

Have the water company visited yet? If not call them again.

This is a problem for them to deal with and they will place the blame where it belongs.

My name is NOT Alessandro. That's just a tag Virginmedia sticks on some contributors. Please ignore it.
