Wifi booster getting hot

Loosecanons

Hi,

I have a plug in WiFi booster that I've used for year or so.

Yesterday I heard a buzzing sound which I discovered came from the booster.  It was also quite hot.

I've plugged in it again but is it normal for them to do this?

Thank you

Keep it unplugged and please post a picture of the serial number card.

No - it isnt - and several have burst into flames over the years - just search the forum.  As advised above, unplug it and wait for a VM person to respond here

Hi @Loosecanons,

Thank you for your post and welcome back to our community forums. We're here to help.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having some trouble with your WiFi Booster making noises and also getting exceedingly warm. As has been advised here, if it's doing that then we'd recommend unplugging it but taking care when doing so.

I'm going to send you a private message in a few moments. Please respond to this when you can and we'll assist further from there.

Thanks,

Hi Zach, I too have two of these WiFi boosters and both of them get incredibly hot and buzz loudly, one has even marked the wall with what looks like a dark smoke stain. I can't tell whether they work as although both show up in the routers list of attached devices the Virgin Media Connect App still doesn't link to my router hence can't manage them in that. This has been a long standing issue bit like my request for the V5 hub. What can I do with the WiFi boosters? Thanks

Hi @mrawlings99, thank you for your post.

In order to discuss this with you, we'll send you a private message on here. Look out for the envelope in the top right-hand corner.

If you're on a portable device with a smaller screen, click on the icon in the top right-hand corner and select "messages" from the additional menu options.

Regards,
Daniel
