Cable my street

Hello,

I have lived on a private housing development that does not have any VM cable laid within it and have trying to get it done for the past 14 years and it is off a street that has VM cable on it. So, it should be easy to take the cables from the street it is off.

Who do I need to contact to get someone out from VM to at least have a look at the possibility of cabling up my little estate up? Conact number or email?

I know quite a few of my neighbours that would prefer VM than having to go through a BT phone line.

VM and many of its predecessors never have cabled any unadoped roads or estates due to the plethora of wayleave agreements that would be needed. Also, & more importantly, if VM has been around for such a long time, you are obviously in a legacy build cable area. The network type build used is HFC (Hybrid Fibre Coaxial). This 1) can only accommodate a finite amount of expansion above what was planned for in at the original 1990s build stage, & 2) Is extremely expensive to install, especially for “infill” development. VM ceased doing HFC infill on cost grounds several years ago. Build cost was also the cause of several of the initial 1990s cable franchise holders going bust.

The good news is that VM are now moving away from traditional cable services to full fibre, though the rollout of this will take many years.
