Amended package accepted - original still showing as a pending contract

The team here were very helpful with a previous issue, so I wonder if anyone could help regarding a current predicament? Have any fellow customers had something like this, and did it all work out OK in the end?

To summarise, minimum term was ending in early September and as a local fibre company were offering a fixed price for 2 years, notice was given on Tuesday 20th August as come April, staying would have been more expensive than taking that fixed price deal.

On Wednesday 21st, I received a call offering the same broadband and line package as I had been on starting at £1 less the deal I was going to leave for, or broadband only for £5 less than that. As the landline is used less often than it has been in the past, I did not consider it worth paying £5 extra a month for and went with the latter. This was due to take effect on 20th September, after a 30 day notice to drop the phone element.

I received another call the following day, Thursday 22nd, asking if I would be interested in paying £1 extra a month to keep the home phone and have a speed boost which I accepted. I asked what would happen regarding the contract I had agreed the day before and was told that this update would automatically supersede it. The new package is live, however when logging in to check the contract, which is all present and correct and showing as accepted, I noticed that the earlier change to drop the phone is still showing as a pending contract, labelled update: September 20th.

Obviously I don’t want it to kick in come that date, cut the phone off that we’ve started to tell people is staying and cause early termination fees on the now live agreement at £23 that I want to keep. I received another call this week from a woman who said she was from Virgin Media, and this time I said that I was already sorted. She hung up, and while I recognise that it is possible she may not have been genuine, it did leave me wondering if everything is OK.

Thank you
