FWIW, my virgin.net email addresses impacted by these closures received “Final reminder” notifications stating:

Following on from our earlier email, this is the final reminder that we’re closing your Virgin Media email account. This means you’ll lose access to your Virgin Media email address in 15 days. After this date the contents of your account will be removed and permanently deleted.

- I lost access to the accounts after 15 days plus another 5 to 6 days
- the accounts are locked, i.e. they still exist and continue to accept mail deliveries
this is not unexpected as it allows Virgin Media time to recover an account deleted in error
- will continue monitoring to see when mailbox is permanently deleted, i.e. it stops accepting delivery of new messages, notifies sender of non-delivery
