Virgin Media login looping

chrisG4
Tuning in

Logging in to My Virgin Media on my Chromebook has become impossible! The page keeps looping back to the start,

I've tried cleaning cookies and cache with a reset. No luck.

I've changed my Virgin Media password. No luck.

I'v tried to log in on an incognito page. No luck.

I can log in on my Windows PC, my iPhone, on another Chromebook...

...but not my Chromebook!

What do I do now?

Hello chrisG4

We're sorry to hear of the issues in regards to accessing your Virgin Media account on a certain device, we understand the confusion and appreciate you raising this via the forums.

From what you have advised and with it working on other devices, we'd recommend ensure any updates available to that particular device and browser are completed. It appears to be a device specific issue as if there was a problem with the login it wouldn't work on any devices.

Does it give any error messages at all during the process?

Hi Rob

Thanks for getting back to me.

No, there are no error messages. And the Chromebook in question is a little old now so there no updates available. However the other Chromebook is similarly ancient and yet the Virgin login works fine on it.

I'm  tempted to a Powerwash and go back to factory settings but wanted to see if anyone on the forum had a potential solution before I did!

Chris

Thank you for your response @chrisG4

Can you confirm that the browser on the Chrome Book is up to date? Also is this the only webpage you are having issues accessing?

Thanks,

Hi Akua

I've checked for any updates and it says I'm up to date on version 76.0.3809.136

And yes, it's the only webpage with this access issue.

Thanks

Chris

Thank you for that information ChrisG4. Can you confirm if you have been able to try a different web browser on the device?

^Martin

Hi Martin

No, I haven't been able to try a different web browser and not being a practised Chromebook user, I've really no idea how to load a second browser. I did experiment this morning but whether it's because my Chromebook is a little ancient I met with no success!

Chris

Hi @chrisG4, thank you for your response.

Have you tried downloading another browser, such as Firefox?

Regards,
Daniel

Hi Daniel

It seems I can't download another browser - something to do with having no Google Playstore app/extension on what is an ancient Chromebook. Looks like a Powerwash (regrettably) might be my only option to restore access to My Virgin Media email access.

Any thoughts?

Chris

Are you not able to access the webpage for an alternate browser and download form there?
