Fortnite lagging

My son’s Fortnite is really lagging and he’s unable to play. It’s connected on pc via WiFi as the box is too far away (downstairs and pc in bedroom) to connect via wire to internet. Do I need a booster?

The Wi-Fi from VM Hubs is not very strong, so he may well need an extender. If you are on a contract that allows you a free Pod and he is getting less than 30Mbps in his room then you can request one. If not then you should buy one because it will be cheaper than renting one from VM.

Or use a powerline extender so he can cable the PC to the Hub using the mains sockets.  This may not be the fastest but should be more reliable than WiFi.

Note the VM Pods ( or any other) do not “boost” WiFi, they just extend the range albeit with reduced speeds.

The son is upstairs so may be on a different mains circuit. This could limit the effectiveness of a powerline extender.
