Unable to log into my mail account in Virginmedia+Forbidden error

I have a blueyonder e mail address and cannot log into my e mail account on Virginmedia - keep getting Forbidden error - but can pick up and send e mail on my Mac in my mail account.

Virginmedia requested I change my e mail address for my account - which I have done - and also my password - which I have done,  but still cannot log into my mail account on Virginmedia using the alternate e mail address and new password.

Any suggestions.

I think I inadvertently clicked on "something"  and my post is now showing "accepted solution" - which isn't correct as the problem still exists.

If you are still getting the "Forbidden" error message I would try a second password reset. Other posters have reported that a password reset does not cure the problem and that it takes a second reset to regain access to the webmail account.

Thank you for your suggestion but after resetting my password for the 2nd time I still cannot access webmail through Virginmedia.  I dont (and never have) had a problem logging onto Virginmedia.com - which doesn't make sense -  its just my e mail that I cannot log into and still getting the "Forbidden" error.

That does make sense because the "Forbidden" error comes up when there is an issue authenticating your email account. I don't remember ever seeing ii reported in connection with a My Virgin Media (MVM) account.

It did seem to occur a lot after VM introduced their "mail app password" which you have to use in the account settings of email apps and clients such as Outlook and the Mail app instead of the password you use to sign into your My Virgin Media and MVM account. The mail app password is always n the format  "word-word-word-word"

You have not mentioned whether you also use an email app to manage your emails but it might be worthwhile resetting your password again and generating a new Mail .app password.

If that doies not work, then the Forum Team (VM staff who support this forum) are best placed to help you. One of them will be contacting you via this forum, Hopefully that will be today.
