Phishing
Received two emails advising me that my account will be closed soon. One also identified that potentially dangerous viruses had been detected. Are these scams?

If they asked you to go follow a link or phone a number then they are scams.
The genuine ones that VM has been sending out are just advising you that an account is being closed, without any response required within the email.
