Email not updating on mail account!

Emails on my main account (@ntlworld.com) have stopped working with New Outlook, with the last one being on 20/09/25. A secondary account (@virginmedia.com) is working fine.

Any ideas why this is and how to resolve.

  • Don't know w at happened to my earlier reply but I tried IMAP with the recommended settings (as shown above) and it fails. As I have just noted POP works fine (again) with the same passwords as IMAP. 

  • I have just tried POP again and it works fine with the same passwords I used with IMAP. It appears IMAP is the issue. 

  • I removed my @ntlworld.com account and now can't get New Outlook to add it back in. What ever I do the sign in fails. I have the new four word password thing which works on my phone but not on my pc. Is the password supposed to be with dashes or not because both don't work?

      The username is your full ntlworld.com email address and the password is four words including the dashes.

        Thanks but can't get this to work. Sign in failed with 'invalid credentials temporarily unavailable'.

  • Outlook has asked for my new password (four words) which I have added but the sign in still fails. The error details are:

    {"SessionId":"f52ea923-a230-5845-8755-5997aa19f2e4","Timestamp":1759656408388,"Error":"INTERACTIONREQUIRED"}

      Depending on the version of Outlook that you are using you may need to remove the Ntlworld account from it and then add it back again with the new password.

    We're sorry to hear you're having an issue with viewing your emails via Outlook. You'll need to generate an app password in order to access your mails on any mail client or mail app. 

    Please log in to My Virgin Media here > Click on Account settings > Identity & Security Settings > Select Manage your products > Select Manage email app password > Click on the blue button 'Get New Password'.

    Once you have your new app password, pop this in the password section in Outlook and your email should then load.
