cant log into my virgin ntl world email account

I can't log into my virgin ntl world email account on my laptop I can do on my mobile I phoned virgin up who says there is a problem in the area and will be fixed next Tuesday? But why is it working on my mobile. I tried asking the girl at virgin but it was bad reception people talking in background. Any help please.
