Stripping out Virgin Media cables & boxes

Hi all,

Have just moved into a new home which has these VM boxes and cables to almost every room. I am keen to strip out as they are all exposed cables and can’t see us ever using them…

We have signed up to Virgin Media fibre and unsure if these are linked. My logic is to keep the 1 box which is linked to the fibre box, then run WiFi and wireless repeaters from there on through the house.

Want to do the same with BT line too, 1 phone point next to front door and strip out all the others. Every room has one currently.

We stream all TV wirelessly so don’t see a need for all the Coax, is that’s what it is?

Does the above logic check out?

Thank you for any help in advance.

VM connections are on the wall with white broadband/TV connection/cable on the RHS. In you hand, the cables look like satellite TV. If you intend to use VM's TV recorder boxes (360 v6) you need the VM coax cable to connect to.

If you are removing a lot of cables/splitters you may do best to ask for a VM technician installation instead of Quick Start. Get the tech to do the necessary disconnections and make sure signal levels are correct and you can strip the unused cables out later yourself.

the black cable is likely non-VM and probably satellite. The phone socket could go, just cut out the wires and dispose the vm branded box. The cable for hubs and DVB-C TV is the one from the large white VM branded box with white coax hanging out.

As goslow says, get a tech visit.
