Puzzling paint on the pavement.

I noticed A VM van across the road the other day. Now the pavement near where the VM cables go through the garden wall is marked “BT” in green paint.

 What does it mean?

I’m with Sky broadband but thinking of switching. My neighbours are with VM, I think.
