Field Service Technician (NE) job questions
I’ve got an interview coming up but am having second thoughts after reading some of the negative reviews on Indeed, Glassdoor, and posts here. Are there any technicians based in the North East who could share insights on a few things, like what the culture is like up here?
It seems that the main areas people are unhappy with include poor (micro)management and unreasonable expectations around up-selling or referrals, which weren’t mentioned in the job description. How strict is this? Are there set targets, and what happens if you don’t meet them? I’ve read that people are sometimes called out over Zoom meetings for missing targets—how common is this?
Late finishes also seem to be a recurring theme, especially with compulsory overtime. I saw one post mention this as being contracted at 17 hours a month. How frequent is this? Is it nearly every shift, or just occasional? What kind of support is in place to help you finish on time?
I also read an older post about training being held in Birmingham—does this mean it’s residential? How long does the training last? And if someone’s circumstances don’t allow them to be away from home for an extended period, would they have any alternatives, or would that mean no job offer?
