Virgin Media Pods : my experience

I ordered a black pod, and so far after using it for 6 weeks, I have decided that using the main router is better.

I get lost connections and the speed varies from 70 to 460 . ( I have a 1 gig connection)

My black pod is connected via ethernet in my lounge while the router is in the loft. The ethernet cable connects to the Hub 5 in the loft. I can get a decent signal from the main router which is in the loft down 2 flights of stairs.

I had some reliability issues when I used a draytek router as a very expensive switch. It has a separate SSID name and had a static IP address outside the DCHP pool. But sometimes I had to manually switch from 1 SSID to another. This Draytek doesnt have WiFi 6, it has the generation below. Any ideas on where to go to improve my home network setup?

    What model id the Draytek - does it offer access point mode to provide full speeds on wifi and ethernet - at its location?

    If so..what happens if you remove the pod and connect the Draytek on it instead and then switch it into "Access Point" mode?

    If it doesnt have it you could replace it for modest outlay with one that does and has wifi6.  Or just a wifi6 access point with GB ports too.
