Log into your online VM account
https://www.virginmedia.com/myvmo2/account-settings/security
.. Go to Account Settings -> Security and turn it on/off from there.
See if that "sticks".

possible causes of VM Connect failure ...
An iPhone with Apply Relay ( a VPN ) enabled, or any mobile with a VPN enabled.
A Hub 4 where the VM Connect app has corrupted the Hub 4 ( very common mode of failure ) ,
i.e. it's menu at http://192.168.0.1/ no longer works after the password is entered & the Hub 4 needs to bejunkedreplaced.
You recently has a replacement VM Hub delivered, it take several days for the system to catch up and for the Connect app to be begin corrupting the next Hub 4err working sort of.
