My location is incorrect.

Since I switched to VM I regularly get message from Facebook and others telling me somebody has logged on in various parts of St Helens (usually spelt as Saint Helens) . Is this because the VM centre is based there ? Can it be corrected?

Unfortunately it’s nothing to do with VM about where an IP address is located. Various ‘what’s my IP’ type apps have my location in 3 different locations in the country and only one is correct.

Recently there was an odd wrinkle where several USA Media Content providers were using a location process that confused a specific area in the North East of England with a similar name of location in the USA and resulted in loss of access to UK content.

Perhaps not a VM created problem, but one that appeared to need the VM to Content Provider level of communication to get resolved.   Dealing with Netflix and the like can be quite impossible for the individual customer especially when suggesting a technical fault to the way the access to the platform is controlled.

Yes, my location is showing as several hundred miles away from where I am.  It's still in the UK, so hasn't caused me any issues, so far ...  ;-)
