Hub4 2.4GHz band going down all the time.

Hi, my Hub4 2.4Ghz band keeps losing the internet connection and I have to reboot the sodding thing all the time.?

The 5GHz band is fine, but only my laptop is capable of connecting to that. That is the only reason I am using it as a router and not a modem, as the speed is so fast on 5Ghz.

All my smart switches, Alexas and Google Minis have to connect to the 2.4GHz band, and my minis then tell me they cannot connect to the internet, which is how I know and need to reboot.

Do you use a split SSID, or do you have Pods?  If you don’t have Pods, split the SSID, disable Smart Optimisation and manually set the channels and bands.  Uninstall the Connect app on any devices.  This may help

      Thank you for the replies.

I have seperate SSID for the bands. I use -5G suffix for the 5G band. No pods.
Will try manual settings. Smart Optimisation already disabled. Already on manual and 11, now changed to 1.

If I ask for a new hub, what am I likely to get? another Hub4 or a later model?

  • Hello WelshGasman,

Welcome to the Community and thanks for taking the time to post here on the forums. I’m sorry to hear of the issues that you’re having with your router at the moment.

I'd be happy to take a further look into this for you but first I would need to confirm a few details via private message, please look out for my message and we can get started.
    Kind Regards,

  • Virgin sent me a new modem and I am getting the same issue? :-(

I have Channel optimization disabled, due to previous advice here, yet I can see in the network log a good few of these?

    US profile assignment change. US Chan ID: 6; Previous Profile: 12; New Profile: 11.;CM-MAC=ac:f8:cc:7e:72:08;CMTS-MAC=00:01:5c:9b:34:53;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.1;

These entries coincide with when my smart devices tell me there is a problem with the router.?

Looks like you have to use modem mode then and get your own wifi router with 1Gb ports or better

  • Hi Robert,

I have replied and have finally managed to get the router to give out a correct IP address to my TP Link Router. I have also mentioned that the Connected Devices page is as much use as a chocolate fireguard. :-)
It was advising I had 27 wireless connected devices, 8 by ethernet, when it only has 4 ports?
3 devices were connected to Ethernet 4. My PC was still showing as connected when it was plugged into my TP Link router, so I will not be trusting that page anymore. :-(

The router is probably remembering previous connections to your WiFi devices which have changed their MAC codes from time to time.
