Hub upgrade - cable modem

I'm currently using a Superhub 2ac in cable modem mode and VM have sent me a Hub update email.
I have a couple of questions:

Is the Hub 4 any better in cable  modem mode? I'm on a 250 package.

Will there be an installer visit, or will the hub be posted to me?
If there's an engineer visit, could the coax cable from the wall to the hub be shortened; it's currently about 4m too long and looks untidy?
If it's posted, which courier do VM use, and how reliable are they?

Thanks

DS

  • OK, thanks.
The email has a link to 'About our Hub 4', so I'm guessing that's what they're offering.

I'm using modem mode out of choice rather than necessity, so if it's going to come via Yodel. on past experience with them I'll probably not bother.

VM doesn't want old hubs like yours in the wild, and is upgrading to the hub 5. Does your email really refer to the hub 4? Anyway you're being asked nicely but soon it will be a forced upgrade. The new hub will work fine in modem mode and you might find it obviates the need for modem mode as it performs better and has better Wi-Fi (especially the hub 5 with Wi-Fi 6).

If you need cable shortening a tech would do it and bring the hub with him to install. As for couriering: it's Yodel.
