Hub 5 2.4GHz wireless speed now slow

Is there a known issue with the new Hub 5's and 2.4GHz wireless? For no apparent reason it has dropped to less than 50Mbps. A test just now yielded 21 Mbps. Fortunately my new laptop can use 5G but older devices not so much.

Note: wired and 5G is just fine

I'm lucky to get anywhere above 20Mbps on 2.4Ghz. It is the most congested WiFi band of the lot. My hub is competing against 6 other hubs using the same channel where I live. All the other 2.4 channels are likewise congested, so changing channel is not much use.

Make sure the VM Hub is using the preferred channels 1 or 6 or 11,
we disabled B & G on the 2.4 GHz band, we don't have any pre 2009 Wi-Fi kit in service.

If you are seeing 20 Mb/s on a 2.4GHz only Samsung mobile,
re-test with Blue Tooth disabled on the mobile.

  • Hi gettyu

    Welcome to the community forums.

Sorry to hear you're having issues with the 2.4ghz WiFi at this time.

We've not been able to locate you on the systems on our side to investigate further.

Are you able to use the Connect app we have to see if the coverage in the area is causing any issues with the speed?

Most probably interference from other people. As stated this band is extremely busy, in 24 hours the other day I could see 157 SSIDs active. That’s one of the reasons I use my own networking equipment with Wireless Access Points that I can fully ‘tune’ their parameters.
