V6 box installation.

Greetings;

Related info:
V6 box installation.

I too am having a similar issue - which has steadily got worse over time.

I'm an avid viewer of YouTube, especially with its coverage of the Russia/Ukraine conflict and many other interesting channels covering technical innovation, etc.

The problem however is sporadic, E.g. If I'm interested in a video from the recommended or library video listings (if working normally), I select said video it then should open either into an advert(s) or straight into the video itself. The trouble is that sometimes (when the selection is made), the screen just goes black, everything goes dead and none of the buttons on the remote have any effect.

The really annoying thing about this issue is that there is no warning - it just happens out of the blue and the only way to deal with the issue is to restart the ST box. We shouldn't have to keep doing this, extremely irritating, time consuming and a if (by chance) you are in the middle of a recording - completely beggars up said recording.

I've never had this problem with YouTube when I'm on my PC, so is it just localised to the VM ST boxes and (if yes) is a firmware update for said ST boxes required??

I'd be interested to see whether this is a global issue (affects everyone) or localised.

Cheers

    I use the YouTube app on an almost daily basis, but have never had this issue to date. Is this a recent problem, or has it been happening for some time?

      Greetings Nodrogd and thanks for your response.

      Your quote "I use the YouTube app", forgive me for asking and not owning a smartphone myself, but I always associate "app" with smartphones. To clarify, are you referring to a smartphone, PC/laptop, tablet or your set top box?

      If using the former(s) then it may be that smartphones, PC's, laptop's and tablets are not affected - I've never experienced this problem watching YouTube on my PC. However, assuming the latter (V6 set top box), then I reckon this has been happening for around three months.

      Like I originally stated, the issue is sporadic and I can go for several days without any occurrence, then (without warning) the issue suddenly appears, the whole system locks up and the only way to get out of it is to restart the set top box - which takes ages to complete.

      I note from the previous threads, that I'm not the only person suffering from this problem.

      Cheers

      Chris (bw41101).
