The Iris Affair episode 7 problem.

I've been watching The Iris Affair (Sky Showcase) on catch up.

So far, I've been able to watch 6 episodes in HD.

I get to episode 7 and my V6 box tells me I have to upgrade to UHD to watch it.

I'm assuming this is an error, and can somebody advise what one does so that the error can be rectified so that I can watch episode 7 in HD, as has been the case with other 6 episodes?

Thank you.

Looks like E1-6 are available in HD & UHD, your subscription will include HD thus the programme is available,.

E7'd HD variant is missing, thus your V6 is behaving as designed and offering UHD - which your package doesn't include. The error is that the HD variant is late in landing.

I'll tag ModTeam to check whether this has been raised as a fault. It should be re-uploaded in due course.

  • Still no sign of the Iris Affair (episode 7) in HD that I can watch via the On Demand service.

I rang VM before about this, telling the staff member it appeared the only way I could watch this episode was by upgrading my package to UHD.

The only solution he offered was to give me UHD for a month, and it would then be my responsibilty to cancel.

I declined. I've watched the previous 6 episodes in HD, why not episode 7?

It leaves the impression that what's the point of beginning watching any series broadcast via the Virgin TV package in HD, if part way through VM arbitrarily decide you have to upgrade to the UHD format you are not subscribed to, to continuing watching?

      Hi regentroad5

Welcome back to the Community Forums.
Sorry to hear of your concerns with episode 7 of The Iris Affair not showing as available in HD.
The team have raised this on their side and it is being investigated. I have reached out today for any updates we're able to pass along at this time.

      Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Out of interest, is there a reason you didn't record this series? That's an excellent way to ensure episodes are always available to watch.

Hopefully the VoD issue will be resolved in due course.

  • Hi Japitts. The reason being I have used the on demand function frequently before now, without issue.

Recording to local storage will always be preferable to relying on anything internet-based, given the option.

Guaranteed access & expiry dates are rare. VoD a good insurance.

Something to remember for the future, notwithstanding that a series I began watching in HD should have afforded me that function choice through to its conclusion I would have thought.

  • Please, please can someone at Virgin upload the last 2 episodes of The Iris Affair?? Yes, we could have recorded the series but usually episodes of programmes are are uploaded with no issue.

Literally no point giving your customers the chance to watch a series and not upload it all.

    Not happy.

  • I've just encountered this problem myself.  I'm still on a V6 box  and M350 package and am wondering if this is a backdoor way to get me to upgrade to TV360, which I've refused to do so far and from what I've read on these forums, is more of a downgrade than upgrade.  I'm not so desperate to see the last two episodes of The Iris Affair that to be persuaded to upgrade.

      Not at all.

  • Just adding my displeasure at the continued  absence of these two episodes. Cannot help cynical feeling a revenue raising manoeuvre - hope am mistaken.

    Settling in

I have contacted Virgin and they have said it is the fault of the provide (Now TV?) for not uploading it in the right format. I'm sure they could be contacted and this could be rectified. It's very poor from both sides tbh...

Maybe, maybe not. But that's for VM to resolve, not you. It's VM who provide your TV service and they're your point of contact for all faults.

I'm going to make a wile guess that the agent who told you this was offshore, and either didn't know what to do, or didn't want to follow the correct faults process.

I've just tested this on my 360 box and episodes 6.7. and 8 can be played in both HD and UHD

I double checked the HD version was working by changing my 360 settings to 1080p and the episodes played in HD without any issues.
