Security certificate error message

My mum has just got a v6 box and is unable to view any apps she gets a security certificate message.  Scrolling through all the boards I see a number of people had this issue about 3 weeks ago.  Anyone got any ideas on how to fix?

    And Virgin are sending out a technician this Thursday!  Useless helpline, they obviously don’t monitor this forum or they might have recognised a recurring incident, ie a PROBLEM at the server not in all  the TIVO boxes.

    I’m in SW11 , London.  I can’t access any apps (BBC iplayer, ITVx Channel 4 , Channel 5, Netflix ) or any Catch Up . Getting same security error message on all. Looks like the authentication  failed at their server

    content.dtv.virginmedia.com

    My TV apps have not been working for last 5 days .

    Rang virgin yesterday and was told the issue should be resolved by 4:00 pm today .

    This evening still same issue .

    TV & Internet have been rebooted, tested already.

    wifi is playing up this evening!!

    any suggestions!

      Thank you for your post. I'm very sorry to hear about the issues you've had with your service. 

      I have taken a look on our side and I am unable to see anything that could be affecting this. 

      Can you confirm if you are still having an issue with this?

      What is the issue you're having with the apps on your V6 box? You've not said.

      Do you have any issues with C5 or Sky OnDemand? They use the same internet connection but don't use apps.

      Either keep checking /service-status for any updates, or click on the "Get issue updates" on that page..

      The page is currently showing two TV issues.

      Issue 1

      You might find that you are not able to access TV Apps on your Virgin Media V6 Box at the moment.. We are sorry about this, our engineers are looking at fixing this as soon as possible.

      Issue 2

      We hope to fix this by 4 March at 16:03

      A problem identified and an engineer has been dispatched

      ITV+1 may be displayed in the incorrect format at the moment.. We are sorry about this, our engineers are looking at fixing this as soon as possible.

        I had a new box installed yesterday and engineer said this problem has been going on for months!  So I now have no access to any Apps, Catch Up.  The service status said sorted by 12.03 today - but of course it is not.  Who can fix this for all us with V6 boxes?  Any thoughts?

  • Same here, V6 box, in Cardiff. Website says there are engineers working to fix the problem. Fingers crossed.

    This may be related to the current issue showing under https://www.virginmedia.com/help/service-status 

    The apps are working on my 360 box, although the service status suggests "we hope to fix this by 4pm 2nd March" it may still be borked in some areas/regions, so it would be helpful if forum users gave an indication of where they live which would be helpful for forum staff eg  Leeds West Yorkshire, or Birmingham, Liverpool etc

    Had a replacement v6 box installed today the box has a permanent orange light on the front and no access to the apps because of the known security message. Virgin tech helpline no use as usual 

  • Just started getting same error here too. Replying to keep in the loop of any fix.

      Getting same message when trying to access apps catch up on demand etc. Had issues last night and this morning. TV wouldn't even start up. Works now but not as stated. Do you just need to wait for a fix?

    Hi, this message appeared last night when trying to watch YouTube on our TV:

    Security Error

    This server could not prove that it is content.dtv.virginmedia.com;its security certificate is not trusted by your computers operating system. This may be caused by a configuration or an attacker intercepting your connection. 
    you should not proceed especially if you have never seen this warning before for this site

    It then gives two options - Back to safety or proceed anyway but neither works. 

    I’ve changed my Virginmedia password and rebooted the V6 box but hasn’t made any difference. 

    can you tell me what’s wrong and what I need to do to fix it?

      Just noticed that all apps apart from Netflix are showing the same error message. Any ideas?

  • Getting a message that the security certificate error message on apps tried amazon prime, itvx bbc, chanel 4

      I get same message when trying to access help settings menu

      Had new V6 box today engineer said this is a known issue but VM not sure what is causing it

      Thankfully everything is working ok but i can't access menu to pair remote with my TV as this is blocking the help menu??

      Same issue.  Engineer who came to replace my Tivo box yesterday said it was a known error they are trying to fix!  I don't have "On Demand" either.
