Multiple V6 boxes and upgrade to 360

I have two V6 boxes with directly connected TVs, both connected by wired ethernet to the hub.  Currently I can record and delete programmes independently on each V6, and can watch programs recorded on one V6 on the TV connected to the other, and vice versa.  The remote on one V6 acts through the ethernet connection to the other V6 to manipulate recordings, playbacks etc.

I am concerned about whether the new 360 set up allows this separation of recordings and control of the boxes from one box to the other.  I had heard that recordings were somehow pooled and that only one box might hold the recordings.  Is this true?

Before I commit to the 360 upgrade, can anyone advise as to whether I will retain my existing capabilities and/or what capabilities will I lose?

Horizon 360 is a server based system designed for cloud recording. The way it is used in the UK is that your boxes are registered as the cloud location for your accounts recordings. Therefore you will see all the recordings pooled in one place as the server sees it. There is an option to set a recording on a specific box, but this must be set for each recording individually. Again with accessing the recordings, you have to specify the box you want to look at every time you access your recordings via a separate menu.

If either box fails (& bear in mind some older boxes fail on migration or shortly afterwards), it will be replaced by a remote Stream box which has no hard drive anyway. The standard setup for 360 is one hard drive box, & then you can add up to 5 remote streamers per account.

There is a big list of differences between TiVO & Horizon, which is a very streaming centric platform with recording added almost as an afterthought. There are no wishlist facilities & the series links are far less intuitive. The reliance on the server can also cause issues if your Broadband goes down, as a lot of playback won’t work independently. One of the other posters here has a more comprehensive list of differences between the platforms.

Why are you wanting to "upgrade" to the 360 platform?  Is there some specific feature you are missing on the Tivo one?
