Re: Don't like the 360 box

I have a V6 box and am considering switching to the 360.  My V6 is getting old, so I think I will have to switch sooner or later.  How long did your V6 last?  I don't have to guess that you would advise against the switch until necessary.

I've moved your post to a new thread.

There's nothing inherently wrong with an old V6 - mine is several years old. They remain fully supported for fault replacements.

Conversions from the TiVo/V6 platform to the Horizon/TV360 platform are fully voluntary, there are no current indications of that changing save in some very specific circumstances.

  • Switching to 360 from a V6 doesn't mean you will get a new box, you will receive a new remote and your box will get a software update/conversion to 360 software. Not everyone considers it an update because of the loss of a lot of TiVo patented features.

As stated above, migration to 360 is a firmware conversion, not a box upgrade. Similar to converting a Windows PC to the Linux operating system, no new hardware is involved.

If your box is playing up, you can still get V6 TiVO replacements. They may be refurbished units, but the vast majority should be reliable.

Just because it's new and VM are desperate to get you to convert  doesn't mean it's better.

Have a look through te forum from customers who regret changing ( and there's no way back).
