Pausing/Rewinding Live TV

Why is that I can only pause live TV for 5 minutes before I get an on-screen message saying I've reached my limit and it was playing from where I paused it. The same when I'm rewinding, sometimes I can only rewind a few minutes and other times longer. Why?

    Hi CTJ72

Did you take out the multiroom subscription that you asked <here>  about 9 months ago?

If so is your set up a main 360 box and a mini 360 box. The minibox is half the height of the main 360 as it doesn't contain a hard drive and so the mini box only pauses for around 5 minutes. The main box however buffers for around 3 hours.

If you want to pause for any longer when  using a mini box then you need to set the program to record.  The recording will be on the main 360 box.

  • I am currently watching on the main 360 box and can only rewind 7 mins before it stops

  • The pausing issue was indeed using the mini box, I shall have to try to remember about the max 5 mins. Thanks for that info. My question now then is why can I only rewind a little bit on my 360 box of a programme that has been on for a couple of hours?

If you haven't changed channels on the main box or switched it off then it should be able to rewind for around 3 hours.  If it can't then it's a possible hard drive problem.  You could try a factory reset to see if that helps.

To factory reset go to Settings (the cog at the end of the Home menu) > System > Factory Reset. It's actually misnamed and only a partial system reset and not a complete factory reset. You are given 2 options
      Keep Recordings
      Format Disk
Choose Keep Recordings, that means you won't lose your recordings and any planned recordings or series links you've set up. You will have to sign into your apps such as iPlayer, Prime, Netflix and ITVX again. Also Match frame rate and Standby power consumption might go back to their default settings if you have changed them.
