My dad's virgin tv has started saying what he's doing when using his remote, he adjusts the volume and a female voice tells him, he's not mad but it's just started to happen, doesn't live near me and mine has never done it. At a loss. Anyone had this before

You've posted in the Tivo section however the funstion you describe isn't available on a VM Tivo or V6 box. It's possibly his actual TV and not the Virgin set top box.
If however your father has a VM TV360 box or a VM Stream box then I suggest he checks under Settings > Accessibility > Voiceover Guidance and make sure that it is turned to Off.
(The easy wat to tell if he has a TV360 or Stream box is that the VM remote will have a voice control button which looks like a microphone on the remote )

And a TiVo or V6 has the TiVo-logo in the top-right corner next to the video preview, signifying the TiVo-software. TV360 don't have this.
