Tivo 30 day issue

Just returned after a long holiday to discover that later programmes in my series links appear to have failed to record due to the tivo box being off (on standby) for over 30 days? I am pretty hacked-off with this- especially as I'm likely to be away for a similar period later this year. Is there a work around, or do I just have to accept that some programmes will be missing?

  • Thank you for letting us know PAW12

We can only apologise that these scheduled recordings were not done due to the set-top box being off.

Please do let us know if you've any further issues with your recordings at all and we'll assist you further if needed.

  • Steven L - just the content which should have recorded after we'd been away for 30 days. Previous recordings were ok, as were recordings up to the 30 day mark.

japitts - I think i've used the app once previously , but yes that occurred to me also . Assuming it's a 'feature' I will make a note to log in remotely next time we're away for >30days!

    thanks

  • Hello PAW12,

Welcome back to the Community and thanks for taking the time to post here on the forums. I’m sorry to hear of the issues that you’re having with your TV box after your trip.

Have any of your previously recorded content disappeared or is just the content that should've been recorded while you were away thats not there?

    Kind Regards,

    Steven_L

I've travelled for 6weeks before now, and my V6 hasn't exhibited this behaviour.

When you say "appear to have failed due to ......", what's your basis for thinking this?

The "recording hiccups" folder would be the first place to look to establish reasons for recording fails. Followed by checking for any recordings set to "keep until I delete" rather than letting the TiVo-firmware disk management control things.

When I first turned on the tv/box a message appeared (which I didn't note down unfortunately) to the effect that as the tivo box hadn't been turned for 30 days, series link recordings (presumably after the 30 days) would not record.

I have checked the hiccups folder - entries only commence on the day of my return I.e from when the box was first turned on after > 30 days. All my series links are 'until space needed', but I had cancelled the links which would take up masses of space e.g repeating live events. I am pretty certain space was not the issue.

I would've been interested to see that - it may be a new thing.

Do you use the TV Control app at all? I'd have been tempted to login to that and do "some" recording management every couple of weeks at least.

    Hi PAW12,

It's a wonder the box is still working and not showing error /m58/ as boxes are usually deactivated when they haven't been used for around 30 days.  Hopefully some of the programs you wanted to record are available via catch up or on demand.
