How to Get a New TiVo Box

Hi all, I pay for my Mums Virgin sub and visiting recently see how she has been struggling with the old tv box, it turns off and she has to wait 10 to 15 minutes for it to restart as well as other fun problems.

She told me she "didn't want to be a pain" and say anything! 😞

Anyhoo - it is an ancient 500Gb standalone Tivo box, can call when I have time but what is the easiest way of getting a replacement box to a new one and will there be a cost?

Seems crazy to still be using this old box.

Thanks.

Your VM contract includes equipment rental, if it's broken it's broken.  Dialling 150 "faults" if the forum team here don't help you first?  VM will not charge for electronic wear and tear ime.

No VM equipment should be restarting anything more than occasionally and overnight, by design. The TiVo is also 13+ years old and is ancient by current standards. Too many customers do suffer faults in silence!

VM staff respond on these fora after a few days if your Mum doesn't report the fault via the CS route. They should arrange a tech visit, and any equipment deemed faulty replaced. TiVo's are now replaced - as a matter of course - with the newer V6. It runs the exact same software as the TiVo but on a much newer, quicker box with more recording tuners.... providing your Mum has VM home broadband.
