Broadband Speed Is Appalling -> 1 Gigabit getting 3.6Mbps down

As per the title really, for WiFi. Not really sure what else to do as I've unplugged, reset, moved the Hub to no avail.

It is awful whether I use a MESH network or the Hub.

Trying to get VM to do anything is like pulling teeth, I've had a chat with someone who didn't know anything & ended up being unable to help as they can't work on my type of Hub. They advised I call Customer Services but all I got was an automated message which offered nothing more than a text shoeing me how to check my connections (really?!).

I don't seem to be able to speak to an actual human, preferably in the UK so I don't have keep going over the same script every time I speak to anyone.

Last hope is here, on the off-chance someone can actually help.

Oh, I also have one of the VM Pods which does absolutely nothing either.

With the HUB in router mode what does this site show:

    https://samknows.com/realspeed/

Create a BQM and post the live link.

Access the HUB on 192.168.0.1 in a web browser, select the 'Check router status' link, and copy, paste the data from all tabs, across several posts as required (Including pressing 'Reply' twice if an error occurs on the first submission.

    Sensitive data is removed automatically.

What make/model of MESH are you using?  Are you putting the Hub into modem mode and using the first mesh unit as router?

A  Wi-Fi Mesh and VM Pods too, that is quite unusual.

    1) Which model of VM Hub is involved  ?

    2) Is the VM Hub is in Modem mode or Router mode ?

    3) How is the Wi-Fi Mesh is connected to the VM Hub ?

    4) How is the Wi-Fi Mesh configured i.e in Access Point mode or in Router mode ?

    Thanks all.

Not using the Mesh (Eero) & VM Pods together. It's the VM Hub 5 I'm using.

SamKnows links do not work whilst using the Mesh.

Router is in Modem mode when using the Mesh.

Speed wired/at the router is absolutely fine, it's the WiFi speed that has been awful.

Mesh is configured as it should be, router in modem mode, first mesh unit wired into the router

your mesh hardware is faulty for wifi

by all means use hub wifi if you think thats fine

I have spent some time disconnecting everything, factory resetting, rebooting etc & going back to the router in its intended form (VM network name etc) & that seems to have helped things.

Speed is better & more stable, which wasn't the case when I did this last, so I guess no Mesh network is the way to go in my house, with this router etc etc.

I'll maybe leave things like this for a bit, see if it stays this way or starts to misbehave again (which is what happened with the Mesh network).

    Thanks all for your suggestions.

Did you follow the recommended procedure for adding the Mesh?

      See this...

      _________

Switch on and set up your own first Mesh unit (in its settings) to have its WAN port set to be in.. Dynamic/Automatic IP or DHCP (& Nat) mode, it may be pre-set that way anyway. Then, disconnect all cables from yourl Mesh units and switch them off and unplug them. Then, put the VM Hub into modem mode ( https://www.virginmedia.com/help/virgin-media-hub-modem-mode ) and wait for the base light to turn magenta/purple (on a Hub3 - but green on a Hub4 or Hub5).

Once it’s in modem mode, the VM hub “MUST” then be powered off. Switch your router on and make sure it’s fully initialised (leave 5 min) and then put in the Cat6a ethernet cable from its WAN port to the VM hub (any port will do).

NOW… power up the VM hub and wait 5-10 minutes for The Hub to initialise and and you should get a connection. Use the recommended App to connect any other Mesh units to the first one. This order only needs to be done the first time you connect the router to the VM hub.
