Joining VM for a short term contract, existing cable and modem available

Hey there, I just moved to a building and VM is the only broadband available. There's an existing cable line and modem already plugged in but not activated. I was wondering if its possible to just sign up for VM broadband only without a 12 or 24 month contract but a 3 to 6 month contract only? I would also like to use my own equipment and not the VM all in one combo router. Can I just provide the serial number and MAC address of the cable modem that's in the flat already connected to the Cable line?

Thank you

Virgin does offer rolling 30 day contracts, although at an inflated price compared to the "lock in" type 18 & 24 month contracts. They stopped doing 12 month contracts a while ago.

The hub that is on site should have been returned to Virgin by the previous user. Virgin automatically removes the serial number of the hub from the entire system when the account is closed for safety reasons & to prevent theft of service, so it cannot be reinstated without going through the refurb & recycle process.  If you sign up you will be provided with a new hub which will be linked to your account when it is despatched to your service address.

  • Looks like its a hub 5 the latest one. nodrogd thank you for the info, I will probably look elsewhere. Plus VM customer service is atrociously bad so I rather not take the chance. I might look into 5G or 4G LTE alternatives.
