How can I get a V6 box ?

We have a newish Virgin media contract with a 360 puc thing, we hate it, is there anyway we can exchange it for a V6 box? Happy to pay, we called a month ago but guy said we’d have to cancel our new contract , now it’s past the 14 days can we exchange it now?

Sounds like you might have the newer Stream non-recording box.

TiVo & V6 were withdrawn for new customers several years ago in favour of TV360, and VM are making continual efforts to encourage V6 users to migrate to TV360.

If you're in one of VM's full-fibre areas, then neither V6 or TV360 are available in any case, and only Stream is available. If you're in a traditional network area, then TV360 is available via telesales if you specifically request it - at a £50 charge if memory serves me correctly.

There is a weblink somewhere, where you can check which network area you're in, I'll hunt it out unless someone else beats me to it. Otherwise use the "what services are available where I live" page, and see if 1Gig broadband is available in your area.. if it is, you're a full-fibre customer.

Do you want to revisit that last line?

Thanks for the reply, we had Virgin before so we used to have a V6 box, my husband sorted this new deal out returning to Virgin but we had no idea about this non recording streaming puc, last time we spoke to Virgin as I said initially they were less than helpful swapping the streaming thing for the original box, but out house definitely is in the right area,  we have the cable installed curled up under the the Tv, but don't know how to get it swapped for the box?

Trying to call Virgin is a nightmare now, we called friday & gave up after 45 mins on hold! & that was after going through several of the automated options that resulted in a message saying check the website & cut us off.

    Hi again Dibbdobs

I've just been re-reading your original thread from 3 months ago <Here> which was posted in the Stream forum.

You were advised then that Stream boxes are now the default boxes and that tivo/V6 boxes haven't been available for new customers for around 2 years.  There is no way to change your Stream box for a V6 box.

On the other thread you said that you called VM and were advised that you could cancel your new contract and speak to Sales to request a 360 box.  (This box carries an activation fee of £49.99.)

You should have cancelled within the 14 day cooling off period so that you could order the 360 instead of the Stream box.

If you were to cancel now so that you could order a 360 box via Sales then you would be liable to pay early termination fees.

Thanks for taking the time to rehash what’s already been stated in my original post and thread. I’m well aware of the official policy that the Stream box is the default and that the TiVo V6 boxes aren’t generally offered to new customers anymore—this isn’t news to me. What I’m pointing out is that, contrary to some advice here, it actually is possible to get the V6 TiVo—but only through a convoluted, costly process that involves cancelling the new contract, returning equipment, and risking losing the original deal. Unfortunately, with limited time before a holiday and zero luck reaching a helpful rep, we had no choice but to try the Stream box, which has been a huge downgrade in usability and value. I’m not asking for a policy lecture or repetition—just looking for practical suggestions or experiences from anyone who’s navigated this mess successfully.

TiVo V6 boxes are not offered to new customers. Period. They haven't been available to new customers for over two years.

It is possible to get a "TiVo V6 box"  if you fall into one of the two categories below:-

        1) Existing customers that have a faulty tivo box might have their box swapped out to a V6 box (whilst stocks last) although they will be encouraged to swap to 360 box.

        2) Customers that already have a V6 box which fails will either have it replaced with another V6 box (whilst stocks last) or a 360 box.

You don't fall into either category so you will be unable to obtain the "TiVo V6 box", either by swapping an existing box, or by cancelling and rejoining as a new customer.
