How best to cancel and start a new contract in partners name with minimal disruption?

Hi all,

From reading the sub I heard it's best to transfer name to someone else in the household when your contract is due to expire. I've already filed my cancellation for 1/9/24.

Am I totally fine here to start new contract with my partner closer to the time and have the new contract start on 2/9/24? I'm trying to avoid minimal disruptiuon as she works from home. Anyone else done it like this and how was the disruption (if any?)
